    Watch the suit led

    A heart starts the trick. Your partner plays a club instead.

    Read a legal discard

    Under ordinary follow-suit rules, this legal off-suit play means your partner has no hearts left. Remember the information for later leads.

    Track the cards actually played. Secret signals and coaching are not part of this tip; a renege-enabled table also requires care before assuming the play was legal.
